The use of forged carbon fiber makes the notebook lightweight," said Ouyang Jun, Lenovo vice president and general manager, consumer business segment manager, Intelligent Devices Group. - In developing gaming solutions, we are constantly pushing the limits of what is currently possible in terms of technology. The Lenovo Legion 9i (16″, 8) notebook has become a new frontier that we will strive to surpass in the future."
Lenovo Legion 9i (16", 8) shapes the future with integrated liquid cooling and a forged carbon fiber laptop top cover
The Lenovo Legion 9i (16″, 8) laptop has outstanding computing performance. It features a 13th-generation Intel Core i9-13980HX processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 GPU with 64GB of overclocked 5600MHz dual-channel DDR5 RAM, or a blazing-fast 32GB of dual-channel DDR5 RAM up to 6400MHz.
The first-of-its-kind Legion Coldfront integrated liquid cooling system allows the Lenovo Legion 9i (16", 8) to deliver a maximum TDP (processor cooling system requirements) of 230W while weighing only 2.56kg. The system, co-developed with Cooler Master, works on the GPU's video memory to manage temperature in extreme gaming sessions and activates when the graphics card temperature reaches 84°C. Combined with an AI-controlled triple-fan air cooling system with 6,333 individual air intakes, the Lenovo Legion 9i (16", 8) stays cool even in the longest gaming sessions or extended content rendering. To offset the weight of the integrated liquid cooling system, Lenovo engineers developed a special laptop top cover made of forged carbon fiber. The innovative technology allowed to reduce the overall weight of the device and, at the same time, to create a unique pattern on the body of each Lenovo Legion 9i.
The Lenovo Legion 9i has a mini-LED Lenovo PureSight 3.2K display with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a variable refresh rate of 165Hz. Creators can choose between DCI-P3 and sRBG by switching settings in the pre-installed X-Rite software. The Mini-LED display occupies 94% of the screen area and delivers stunningly sharp images, thanks to factory color calibration. The notebook has up to 2TB PCIe (Gen 4) SSD storage built-in.
The Lenovo LA-2 AI chip communicates directly with the display through the Smart FPS utility to monitor frames per second and automatically adjust the power of the GPU and CPU to maximize frame rate regardless of the gaming scenario. The AI chip controls the Legion Spectrum RGB lighting around the keyboard and on the case tray, on the Legion sign on the top cover, and the RGB lighting for each key in the Lenovo TrueStrike keyboard and adjusts them to match the visual effects on the screen to create a fully immersive experience. Tobii Horizon software tracks the position of the gamer's head to enhance the immersive experience.
The 99.99Wh battery provides long battery life. The laptop can be charged using the included 330W slim adapter or the Type-C power adapter with 140W of power. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity is handled by a MediaTek Filogic 380 Wi-Fi card with wireless speeds of up to 6.5Gbps.
Like other laptops in the series, the Lenovo Legion 9i is available with Windows 11 as well as a 3-month subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The audio system features SteelSeries' Nahimic technology, which provides surround sound. This allows players to hear their teammates more clearly, as well as improve spatial orientation to achieve top positions in the standings. And streamers will appreciate the easily adjustable balancing and EQ control.
The Lenovo Vantage software application offers an additional set of tools, including real-time performance dashboards and CPU overclocking controls. This suite also includes a new custom intelligent fan control mode. With every Lenovo Legion device, users get access to the Legion Arena library, which brings together games from multiple platforms in one place, and with Legion Ultimate Support, users have 24/7 access to extended technical support provided by experts with game-specific knowledge.
