Huawei MatePad Pro flagship tablet with 13.2-inch screen unveiled

At a big presentation in China, Huawei unveiled its flagship MatePad Pro tablet with a 13.2-inch diagonal. The gadget is positioned as the world's thinnest and lightest large tablet with an edge-to-edge screen.

Huawei MatePad Pro is enclosed in a 5.5 mm thick body, the screen bezels are only 3.4 mm wide. The screen occupies 94% of the front panel area. The weight of the tablet is 580 grams. The manufacturer compares the device with the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, which is heavier and thicker.

The tablet features a flexible OLED screen with a resolution of 2880 x 1920 pixels (262 ppi), a 3:2 aspect ratio, an image refresh rate of 144 Hz, a touch layer frequency of 360 Hz and a peak brightness of 1000 nits. The PWM frequency reaches 1440 Hz. There is TÜV Rheinland certification for eye protection against blue radiation.

The device is based on Kirin 9000s platform, RAM is 12 or 16 Gb, storage capacity is 256 Gb, 512 Gb or 1 Tb. The main camera is dual, with 13MP (f/1.8, autofocus, 4K@30fps video recording) and 8MP (wide-angle, f/2.2, fixed focus) sensors. The front camera is 16MP (f/2.2) and 3D ToF.

The 10,100 mAh battery supports88W fast charging. The battery charges to 100% in 65 minutes. The tablet also gets Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 support, GPS, USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port and six speakers (two high-frequency and four low-frequency). The operating system used is HarmonyOS 4. The dimensions are 289.1 x 196.1 x 5.5 mm.

Together with the tablet, Huawei presented the third-generation M-Pencil pen, which supports the recognition of up to 10 thousand levels of pressure.

Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2 will go on sale on September 28 in three case color options - blue, white and black. The price starts at $684.
