iFixit experts assessed the repairability of iPhone 15 Pro Max
Specialists of the popular resource iFixit disassembled the iPhone 15 Pro Max to assess its repairability and as it turned out, it is very low.
Last year, the repairability of the iPhone 14 Pro Max was rated at 6 out of a possible 10 points, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max received only 4. The final score was most affected by the fact that the device stopped "recognizing its own original components".
After disassembly, it turned out that it was impossible to reassemble the smartphone while maintaining full functionality. In particular, when putting in place the original components removed from the same device, lidar, Face ID scanner, front camera and auto-brightness sensor stopped working. There was no comment from Apple itself.
In addition, the assessment of repairability was negatively affected by the complexity of dismantling the battery: to do this, you need to first remove the speaker and the Taptic Engine module. At the end of the video iFixit specialist tried to scratch the titanium frame and was able to damage its surface without much effort.
Experts also revealed a couple of details about the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Its battery capacity is 17.1Wh (4422mAh), and it uses Snapdargon X70 as its 5G modem.
