Intel and Lenovo will jointly develop the PCs and laptops of the future at the Shanghai Center
Intel and Lenovo jointly opened the Advanced System Innovation Lab in Shanghai. At the new center, engineers from the companies have joined forces to create next-generation computers and notebooks that will deliver high performance, functionality and user experience.
Intel and Lenovo have a long history of working together to create innovative products such as the ThinkPad X notebooks, including the ThinkPad X Fold flexible display models.
To create next-generation devices, Intel and Lenovo need to address not only hardware challenges such as high performance, power management and thermal management, but also software challenges. The companies are working together to solve these challenges not only at the Advanced System Innovation Lab, but also at other research centers located in Zizhong and Pudong.
A notable achievement at the Advanced System Innovation Lab in Shanghai is the development of an OLED display driver that can handle two OLED screens, opening the door to a number of potentially interesting use cases. In addition, the two companies have joined forces with DRAM manufacturers to improve the data transfer rate of LPDDR5 memory.
