The project is the "most comprehensive graphical remaster" of Half-Life 2 being created by the newly formed Orbifold Studios team. It includes four experienced teams of modders, including those known for Half-Life 2 VR and Half-Life 2: Remade Assets.
Half-Life 2 RTX is being developed using NVIDIA RTX Remix modding platform, which allows to create remasters of classic games on DirectX 8 and 9. Modders are completely reworking Half-Life 2: high-polygon models, physically correct rendering (PBR), ray tracing support, DLSS 3, Reflex and RTX IO.
The project is still in the early stages of development. Half-Life 2 RTX release date is unknown.
